Academic Applications and the Dissemination of the Cultural Heritage Project

 

•   Project Introduction

     The aim of the second phase of the National Digital Archives Program (NDAP) is to improve public access to the digital archives established by NDAP phase I. The “Academic Applications and the Dissemination of the Cultural Heritage Project” is one of the five subsidiary projects under the “The Academic and Social Promotions and Applications for Digital Archives and E-Learning Project”, which is the forth project of “Taiwan E-Learning & Digital Archives Program”(TELDAP).  
      In order to advance the knowledge-society and make public the archived intellectual assets, we have the application of the archived academic information and the dissemination of the cultural heritage as our main goals.   

• Main Project Goals of 2008

    1. To further explore the context of local culture-sharing movement；     2. To analyze the formation of the domestic open science groups；     3. To conduct user behavior research on NDAP web interface；     4. To supervise and coordinate other promotion activities.  

• Main Project Tasks of 2008

     1. To build up the theoretical foundation for the application and implementation of the digital archives;      2. To survey the domestic and international policies of the authorization of public information;      3. To conduct surveys on the user behaviors of the digital archives;      4. To join foreign and local project-related organizations and attend conferences；       5. To organize an international symposium on Open Science and Open Access ；       6. To call for, and coordinate some promotional projects；       7. To collaborate with the teams affiliated with TELDAP in sponsoring and participating in the projects-related activities.  

• What has been done in 2007

    •    Research: 6 conference papers     •    Conference: 1 major conference held in late 2007, joined more than 10 research conferences     •    Promotional programs: cooperating with 5 promotional projects     •    Staff training: a total of 7 research assistants  

• What has been / will be done in 2008

    •    Research : 3 conference papers presented     •    Conference: completed ACIA conference on Jan., and is currently organizing an international conference on open knowledge, which will be held in late 2008     •    User Survey: on-line TELDAP user experience survey was completed  on May 20, and produced 2,392 valid samples     •    Focus Groups: planning to conduct 5 focus groups in Jul., 2008     •    Staff Training : a total of 6 research assistants
